The SEC’s principal advisor on accounting and auditing issued a statement this week warning accounting firms working as crypto “auditors” against publishing misleading reports.

Circle’s USDC, the second largest stablecoin with $43 billion market capitalization, held an undisclosed part of its $9.8 billion cash reserves at failed Silicon Valley Bank.

Proof-of-reserve reviews aren’t audits, says the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, and investors shouldn’t count on them.

The Proof-of-Reserves-Report shows reserves are largely spread between bitcoin, ether, and USDT.
